Earlier this month, a Bengaluru woman took to Reddit to share how her date had used artificial intelligence (AI) to talk to her online but how, after meeting him in person, she found him to be dull and uninteresting.
Recently, Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd offered an insight into how modern dating could look like with the growing use of AI, admitting that one could be talking to an "AI dating concierge" in future.
"You could, in the near future, be talking to your AI dating concierge. You could share your insecurities," she said at the Bloomberg Technology Summit, earlier this week.
She further said that AI could help play a role in assisting humans to navigate through their insecurities and help find the right person to meet and have a conversation with.
"And then you don't have to talk to 600 people. It could scan all of San Francisco for you and say, 'These are the three people you really ought to meet,'. So that's the power of AI if harnessed the right way."
"If you want to get really out there, there is a world where your dating concierge could go and date for you with other dating concierge," she said.
The response was met with laughter, but Wolfe Herd was serious about her thoughts. "No. No. Truly." she said.
In January 2024, Wolfe Herd relinquished her position as Bumble CEO, with former Slack Technologies CEO Lidiane Jones taking over as new chief executive.
The online dating app recently announced that it no longer needed women to send the first message, which marked a shift from its trademark feature.
