A woman in Bihar's Jamui district has reportedly married her nephew-in-law in a village temple, with her estranged husband and daughter present. A video of the unconventional ceremony has rapidly gone viral, drawing widespread attention to the incident.

The incident took place in Sikheria village, Jamui district, on June 20. The woman, identified as Ayushi Kumari, was married to Vishal Dubey in the same village since 2021, and they share a three-year-old daughter. But, Ayushi had been involved in a secret relationship with Sachin Dubey, a relative from the village considered her nephew-in-law, Free Press Journal reported. The couple's connection blossomed through social media, progressing into a clandestine affair.

Elopement, divorce, and a new beginning
The secret romance came to light when Ayushi reportedly eloped with Sachin on June 15. Her husband, Vishal, promptly filed a missing person complaint at Sadar Police Station. Subsequently, Ayushi filed for divorce in the Jamui court and, controversially, refused to take custody of her daughter.

Finally, with the consent of both families, Ayushi married Sachin at a local temple. Speaking after the ceremony, Sachin said: "We have been in love for two years. Now our relationship has a name. I will keep Ayushi happy forever."

Her former husband, Vishal, told the media: "If this is what makes her happy, I won't stop her. But the accusations she made against me are false. In fact, she used to misbehave with my mother and daughter. From now on, she is Sachin's responsibility."

In a similar incident last year, a man in Bihar got his wife married to his boyfriend after he discovered their affair. The wedding took place earlier this week in Ramnagar village of Lakhisarai district. The man, 26-year-old Rajesh Kumar, said he consented to the marriage because his wife and her boyfriend were deeply in love with each other.
