India’s deep-rooted passion for food, not just eating it but also reimagining global cuisines has once again caught international attention, this time through a viral video filmed at Chennai airport.
In the clip, a foreign travel vlogger is seen sharing his surprise after tasting spaghetti at the airport while waiting to board a flight to Hyderabad. Recording the vlog on the spot, he praises the dish with infectious enthusiasm, saying the spaghetti sauce was “fire” and boldly claiming that India may have done it better than Italy itself.
“I’m at Chennai airport right now and I’m eating spaghetti. This sauce is incredible. It’s so good that India has made this better than Italy,” he says in the video. The vlogger goes on to add that he isn’t sure he will find the same flavour anywhere else, before asking in amazement, “How do Indians do it?”

The video quickly gained traction across social media platforms, sparking a lively debate among food lovers. While many users agreed with the vlogger’s assessment, others offered more nuanced takes.
One user credited India’s agricultural richness, saying the country’s soil, water and produce play a major role in elevating flavours. “The taste that comes from Indian soil can’t be matched anywhere else,” the comment read.
Others disagreed, arguing that while some Indian restaurants serve excellent Italian food, consistency and authenticity vary. A user noted that certain dishes often get “Indianised,” making them different from traditional Italian cuisine.
However, several people chimed in with personal experiences of standout Italian meals in India. One user recalled having some of the best Italian food in Mysuru, despite having eaten across Europe and the United States.
Another commenter summed up the sentiment with humour, saying India’s reinterpretation of global cuisines has its own charm, encouraging viewers to try everything from Japanese food in Delhi to inventive creations like tandoori sushi.
