Bengaluru man quits Rs 54 lakh a year corporate job to write on LinkedIn: 'lived more in 3 months'

Parantap Chowdhury, a former Assistant Vice President at Square Yards in Bengaluru, decided to walk away from his lucrative Rs 54 lakh per annum job to focus on writing on LinkedIn and building a digital business.

After spending seven years in high-pressure roles at startups like BYJU’s and Square Yards, Chowdhury made a life-altering decision. In a recent LinkedIn post, he shared his story of quitting his corporate job six months ago to pursue his passion for writing and building a remote, digital business.

"I quit the race 6 months ago so that I could have a life, spend time with people I love, and build a business that is remote, digital, and profitable," he wrote in a lengthy LinkedIn post.

From High-Paying Job to Personal Fulfillment

Chowdhury, 32, led a 250+ member sales team and trained over 5,000 salespeople in his seven-year career. Despite his success, the job consumed over 70 hours of his week, sometimes including his off days, leaving little room for personal growth or time with loved ones.

"I would have earned Rs 9.81 lakh in the last 90 days had I stayed in my job, but I’ve lived more in these three months than in the three years before that," he remarked, reflecting on his decision.

Building a New Path on LinkedIn

Writing has always fascinated Chowdhury, but it was only after leaving his job that he decided to turn it into a full-time pursuit. He shared his daily routine, which includes posting niche-specific content, engaging with high-value comments, and learning LinkedIn for an hour each day. Over the last 90 days, this dedication has translated into significant growth in terms of engagement and followers.

He also landed two sales consulting gigs through LinkedIn, though he admits he has earned less than 10% of what he would have made in his corporate role.

Financial Stability and Future Goals

Despite the significant pay cut, Chowdhury remains optimistic about his future. Speaking to  Moneycontrol, Chowdhury said he has a financial runway that allows him to sustain his current lifestyle in Bengaluru for seven years and ten years if he relocates to his hometown of Kolkata.

In the long term, he aims to build a consistent, remote income stream as a consultant while continuing to write and share his journey on LinkedIn.

"I worry about money, purpose, and progress," he admits, but his newfound freedom seems to outweigh these concerns.

“Money can buy most things, but not everything,” he concludes his post.
