AI will take your job? Doctor’s Gemini test in critical road accident case stuns internet

A doctor’s voice-based test of Gemini AI during a critical road accident case has gone viral, unsettling the medical community and igniting debate online.

Doctor tests Gemini AI for ICU case after road accident, sparks industry-wide debate.

As debates grow louder around artificial intelligence replacing human jobs, a new viral video has pushed that conversation into the medical world and unsettled many doctors in the process.

The clip, shared on social media by Dr Manish Taneja, shows a doctor testing Gemini’s voice-based AI agent by describing a real-life road accident case and asking for clinical guidance. What followed surprised many and triggered a heated online discussion on whether AI could soon influence medical decision-making.

In the video, the doctor explains the case to the AI. He asks, “A 42-year-old man who suffered a serious road accident, sustained a head injury, and has been on a ventilator for several days. The patient has developed fever, needs more oxygen, and shows new shadows on his chest X-ray"

The AI agent listens and responds calmly, suggesting that the symptoms point toward ventilator-associated pneumonia, a lung infection that can develop in patients who are on breathing support for long periods. It then explains its reasoning in simple terms, linking the fever, X-ray changes, rising infection markers, and increasing oxygen needs.

The AI agent further suggests right medicines

The conversation goes a step further when the doctor shares lab results showing a drug-resistant bacteria growing in the patient’s airway sample. He asks the AI what current international guidelines recommend for treatment. The AI not only names the preferred medicines but also mentions alternatives and dosing, all within seconds.

This level of detailed, structured response left many viewers stunned. Doctors on social media debated whether such tools could eventually assist, or even challenge, human judgment in critical care. Some expressed concern about over-reliance on machines, while others saw it as a powerful support system.

Several users argued that AI should be treated as an aid rather than a threat. One comment read, “This is today, imagine where this will be in five years. Smart people will use it to their advantage.” Another summed up the sentiment more sharply: “AI won’t replace doctors. But doctors who know how to use AI will replace those who don’t.”
