41-year-old body builder in Chennai dies during steam bath after intense workout: Report

Hours before his death, Yogesh helped his clients train and then was witnessed doing some intense workouts himself.

A 41-year-old fitness trainer and bodybuilder, who the Mr Tamil Nadu title in 2022, died on Sunday minutes after an intense workout at a gym in Chennai. Yogesh was found unconscious in the bathroom while taking a steam bath after working out. When members of the gym rushed him to a hospital, he was declared brought dead. The doctors believe he had a cardiac arrest, the Times of India reported.

Hours before his death, Yogesh helped his clients train and then was witnessed doing some intense workouts himself. He then told his colleagues at the gym that he was tired and headed off for a steam bath. When he did not emerge from the bathroom in over 30 minutes, his co-workers began to get suspicious and tried to check on him. The bathroom door was locked and after they did not receive any response from Yogesh, they broke the door to find him lying unconscious on the floor.

He was then taken to Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) where doctors declared him dead, the publication reported.

Incidents of fitness enthusiasts past the age of 40 having cardiac arrest while working out are not rare.

Last November, popular television actor Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi, also known as Anand Surryavanshi collapsed in the gym while working out. The 46-year-old was then declared dead at a hospital and doctors suspected he had a cardiac arrest.

In 2021, Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar also suffered a severe cardiac arrest while he was working out. He was rushed to a hospital where he complained of chest pain and later succumbed to it. He was 46.
