4 Bengaluru software engineers from Infosys, Accenture killed in car accident: Report

Four software engineers from Bengaluru, including a woman, were killed after their car rammed a stationary Karnataka State Road Transportation Corporation (KSRTC) bus on Bengaluru-Mangaluru National Highway number 75 in Mandya district on Wednesday morning.

One of the deceased used to work at Infosys and two were at Accenture, News 9 reported. They have been identified as Namita, Raghunath Bhajantri, Pankaj Sharma, and Vamshi Krishna.

The incident took place around 8 am on Wednesday, the publication stated. The techies were travelling in a Swift car when it rammed into the KSRTC bus parked on the roadside near BG Nagara. The four of them died on the spot. Police suspect the car was speeding when the driver lost control and hit the bus.

Emergency service personnel together with help from the locals had to cut open the car to extract the bodies.

The car was reportedly coming from Hassan towards Bengaluru when the incident took place. A case has been registered at Bellur police station and further investigation is underway.

The incident comes months after another Bengaluru techie died when her car got stuck in neck-deep water at KR Circle underpass, just a stone's throw from Vidhana Soudha, the seat of power in Karnataka. The 22-year-old was travelling with her family at the time of the incident.

Fire and emergency services personnel saved five others of the family and the driver, with the help of people who had rushed to save those trapped in the flooded underpass in the heart of the city. They were taken to St Martha's Hospital where doctors declared the woman, identified as Bhanurekha, dead.
