Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi's India MD recently took to twitter to reassure millions of Mi and Redmi phone users that their data was secure. Jain assured the Mi community that none of the banned Chinese apps will feature on Xiaomi phones in India going forward.
In a recent tweet, Jain also clarified that MIUI Cleaner app is not using the Clean Master app, which was one of the 15 apps recently banned by the Indian government.

He also confirmed that MIUI apps and services that have been banned by the government will be removed from future the MIUI software in the future. Jain also suggested that Xiaomi is working on a cleaner version of MIUI, although we are unsure what exactly it entails.
Additionally, Jain also took the opportunity to reaffirm Xiaomi’s commitment and promise that every bit of Indian users’ data from Xiaomi and Redmi phones stays in India and does not get sent to Chinese servers. We can expect to see a lot of these changes arriving in the next version of MIUI.
This announcement comes on the heels of the second round of apps banned by the government of India, some of which were associated with Xiaomi. Last month, the government banned 47 apps that were clones of the 59 Chinese apps that were banned earlier.
