Samsung Galaxy S22 series India variants could get Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC; March launch rumoured

Samsung Galaxy S22 series will launch worldwide on February 9.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series will go on sale in India in March, a new online leak has claimed. The three Samsung Galaxy smartphones—the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra—will be unveiled on February 9.

Another report revealed that the Galaxy S22 series’ Indian variants will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S22 series with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 SoC.

Based on previous launches, it was expected that the Galaxy S22 India models will get the Exynos-powered variant. However, a new report from PriceBaba, citing tipster Ishan Agarwal, says the Samsung Galaxy S22 India models will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.

Both chipsets are based on a 4nm process. However, Snapdragon chipsets, over the years, have proved to offer better performance and efficiency compared to Exynos flagship processors.

Samsung did take a significant leap in 2021 with the Exynos 2100 SoC, which offered a much better experience on the Galaxy S21 Ultra (Review).

It was expected that the newly-launched Exynos 2200 SoC will also offer a similar experience. The ongoing shortage of components, however, could have been the reason for Samsung to launch the Galaxy S22 series with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC in India.

While Snapdragon chips have remained superior, the recent batch of flagship mobile chipsets has faced thermal issues, resulting in smartphone manufacturers throttling down the performance.

Samsung Galaxy S22 series specifications and features have leaked multiple times in the past.

Tipster Yogesh Brar claims that Samsung could launch Galaxy S22 in India in March. The company is expected to confirm the India pricing and availability details after the global launch on February 9.

The top-end Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will replace the Note lineup with a dedicated S Pen slot and a boxy design.

It will come with a 108MP quad-camera setup. The vanilla S22 and S22+ will feature a 50MP triple-camera setup.
