Uber has released its official Lost and Found index for India. Every year Uber releases trends report on which cities are the most forgetful, what people leave behind, and which days are the most busy when it comes to forgetting things. In 2023, for the second year in a row, Delhi was crowned the most forgetful city in India, according to Uber's Lost and Found Index. Mumbai seems to be pretty consistent in its forgetfulness, snagging the 2nd place again. Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune rounded off the top five cities list.
“Backed by insights and data, our Lost and Found Index aims to educate riders in a fun yet informative manner about in-app options available to you at the tap of a button, in case you lose or forget something in your Uber during your trip,” said Uber in a newsroom post.
When it comes to forgetting things, phones were the most likely item to have been left behind during Uber rides. iPhones were top of this list as well and Apple was the the first in the top 3 brands of phones that were left behind. Samsung and Redmi were the other two names on the list.
Laptop bags, clothing, keys and headphones round up the top 5 list of most forgotten items in Uber. Watches, jewellery, water bottles, and sunglasses were among other items that people routinely forget in cabs.
Weekends — including Friday — are the most popular days for people to forget things in Uber and the peak time to forget is between 6 pm to 8 pm, as per Uber.
On the list of most unique items left behind was ukulele musical instrument. Bizarrely on the list are gate valve, cornflakes, coin collection and prasad.
