Ride-hailing firm Uber India has launched Uber Direct, marking its entry into the business-to-business (B2B) logistics market, in partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
The service will allow businesses on ONDC to plug into Uber’s delivery network, starting with grocery deliveries for Zepto and KPN Farm Fresh. Over time, it will expand to restaurants, additional cities and formats.
The move marks Uber’s first integration with ONDC beyond mobility in Bengaluru, even as the company said it does not plan to offer ride-hailing on the network at this stage.
“Uber Direct is our foray into B2B logistics. It offers a plug-and-play solution and lets businesses tap into our wide range of logistics,” said Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India & South Asia. “Starting with groceries today, we will soon have more restaurants on board. We will bring this to more cities and more form factors.”
Uber has been testing logistics offerings in India over the past year. The company currently has two logistics products live (Uber Courier and Uber Courier X) which Singh said are seeing “massive uptake” among small businesses and consumers, with around 5 million users across the country.
Uber completed 1.2 billion trips in 2025 and today has over 1.5 million monthly active drivers on its platform, according to Singh.
"We thank Uber team for the partnership. Four cities already is big and we will see more metro services in different cities moving forward," said Vibhor Jain, CEO and COO of ONDC.
Separately, Uber has rolled out metro ticket bookings through its ONDC integration. After launching under a memorandum of understanding with ONDC earlier this year for Delhi and Chennai, the feature is now live for Bengaluru’s Namma Metro.
“This will provide multi-modal ticket bookings for consumers. We are creating more and more options to go anywhere in Bengaluru,” Singh said.
The metro integration is part of Uber’s broader plan to offer more multimodal transportation choices within the app, allowing users to combine metro, autos, cabs and other modes of travel.
