How to comment with GIFs on Instagram posts

If you believe that animated images can convey more than words, you'll be pleased to know that you can add GIF comments to any Instagram post directly from your iPhone or Android device on Instagram. This feature, however, is not available if you're accessing Instagram through a web browser, but you can delete a GIF comment if needed.

The best part is that you don't have to download any extra apps to find and use GIFs because Instagram provides a built-in library of GIFs for you to choose from, making it easy to enhance your comments with animated expressions.

Find the post: First, locate the post where you wish to leave a comment. Tap the Comment icon associated with that post.

Access GIF options: Within the Comment field, you’ll find an icon specifically for GIFs. Click on the GIF icon, which is positioned on the right side.

Select a GIF: You have two options here:

Featured GIFs: Choose from the pre-selected GIFs provided.

Search for a specific GIF: If you have a particular theme or idea in mind, use the Search box at the top to find a relevant GIF from GIPHY. Enter a keyword or phrase related to the GIF you want.

Insert the chosen GIF: Once you’ve found the perfect GIF, tap on it. Your selected GIF will then appear as a comment on the post immediately.

Locate the post: Open the Instagram app on your mobile device and select the specific post you want to work with.

Access the comment section: Within the post, locate the Comment icon. Tap it to access the comments associated with that post.

Remove the GIF comment:

Option 1: Tap and hold the GIF comment you wish to delete. A menu will appear; select the Delete icon (depicted as a trash can).

Option 2: Swipe the GIF comment from right to left, and then tap the Delete icon.

Confirmation and undo: After deletion, a brief red message will appear at the top. If you change your mind, you can tap this message to undo the deletion.

Your GIF comment will be successfully removed from the Instagram post.

Sign in and locate the post: Log in to the Instagram website and navigate to the post containing your comment.

Hover over the GIF comment: Position your cursor over the GIF comment. This action will reveal three dots located beneath the comment.

Select the three dots: Click on the three dots to access a pop-up menu.

Choose “Delete”: From the menu, select the option labelled “Delete”.

Instagram will promptly remove the GIF comment from the post.
