HDFC Bank’s new mobile app continues to malfunction, remains unfixed

Almost seven days after HDFC Bank’s new mobile application malfunctioned, several users are still unable to use its internet banking service.

HDFC Bank customers started complaining about the updated mobile application malfunctioning last week. The application was pulled from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store on December 1.

Customers continue to be unable to access the app since it was updated. When users tried to access the app, it said: "Sorry, we are experiencing high traffic on our servers. Please try again after some time."

The bank, through its Twitter handle, had on November 29 issued a statement saying users, who moved to the app’s new version and deleted the old one, will not be able to use mobile banking till further notice. It has not revealed the reason why the mobile app malfunctioned.

HDFC Bank has said it is working to resolve the issue at the earliest.

The tweet remains pinned on both HDFC Bank Twitter accounts — @HDFC_Bank and @HDFCBank Cares.

As of now, there is no mobile app available to the bank’s customers. The older version of the app has also not been uploaded by the bank.

The new app was launched at the bank’s annual Digital Innovation Summit 2018 in New Delhi last week.

In the meanwhile, the bank has advised customers to use other HDFC Bank services such as internet banking, PayZapp, mobile banking and missed call banking. The bank has also said that customers using the older version could continue to use the service.

Reacting to this development, Sachin Bansal, co-founder of Flipkart, tweeted, "In this day and age, how can the largest private bank of India do this?!"
