What has changed in the Honda BR-V facelift?

The front of the MPV has been redesigned to give it a more aggressive look.

April 30, 2019 / 12:42 IST

Japanese carmaker Honda recently launched the facelifted version of its 7-seater MPV, the BR-V. While it has been released only in Indonesia, the BR-V receives a much-needed makeover. Along with a new look, it also gets important structural advancements.

The new BR-V gets a blacked-out grille in place of chrome bars, with the Honda insignia in the middle. It also gets a set of projector headlamps, one on each side, which merges into the grille. The headlights also get LED DRLs. The front of the MPV has been redesigned to give it a more aggressive look.

The wheels are a set of 16-inch, dual-tone alloys and the back also gets a new chrome strip in place of the reflector strip that connected the split tail lamps. The rear also gets a new bumper along with reflectors which now sit above the skid plate rather than in it.

Honda has updated the BR-V with its G-CON + ACE frame structure, which has a side impact beam to increase the structural strength. It also gets important safety updates like dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD and a seatbelt reminder. The Indonesian BR-V also gets hill start assist, vehicle stability assists and ISOFIX points which are absent from the India-spec car.

While the BR-V has already been launched in Indonesia, it does not seem to be making its way to the Indian markets. In its place, Honda is reported to be launching another SUV. The BR-V has seen a drop in sales following the release of Mahindra’s Marazzo, Suzuki’s Ertiga and Renault Lodgy. Hence, it could be terminated and replaced with another MPV from Honda’s stable soon.
