According to local news agencies and the weather department, the storm in UAE dumped a year-and-a-half worth of rainfall over Dubai in just a few hours. The emirate experiences 94.7 millimetres (3.73 inches) of rainfall in an average year and had seen more than 142 millimetres of heavy rainfall by Tuesday.
