It said Zubair's petition will be decided on its own merit, uninfluenced by the order of the Allahabad High Court, which had denied him the relief.
Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police on June 27 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his tweets.
The apex court has also allowed Zubair's plea to transfer all the FIRs from Uttar Pradesh Police to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
The apex court observed that it seems to be a "vicious cycle" where the moment Mohammed Zubair gets bail in one case, there is another FIR against him.
The Supreme Court will hear Zubair's plea in detail on July 20.
A bench headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana took note of the submissions of Zubair's lawyer Vrinda Grover that the petitioner, a fact checker and journalist, has been facing a slew of FIRs and his plea needed an urgent hearing.
The bail application was moved before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohamaddi on July 11 after the court sent Zubair to a 14-day judicial custody in the case.
