Real estate firm Confident Group has filed a police complaint alleging that extreme pressure may have driven its chairman CJ Roy to take the extreme step.
In the complaint filed on January 30 at Ashok Nagar police station in Central Bengaluru, Confident Group managing director TA Joseph narrated the sequence of events leading up to Roy’s death and sought a detailed investigation into the matter.
According to the complaint, Roy arrived at the Confident Group office located on Langford Road in Bengaluru with Joseph around 3pm on January 30 to give his statement to the Income Tax Department. Roy then went to his cabin and informed Joseph that he wished to speak with his mother, following which the latter stepped outside as requested.

About ten minutes later, Joseph returned and was informed by security personnel that Roy had instructed them not to allow anyone to enter his cabin. After waiting for another ten minutes, Joseph said he went to the cabin, knocked on the door, but received no response.
Realising that the cabin door was locked from the inside, the door was forced opened to enter the cabin. Upon entering, they found Roy seated, with blood on his shirt. According to Joseph, they immediately called for an ambulance.
Medical staff who arrived in the ambulance examined Roy and found no pulse. He was then rushed to Narayana Hospital in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, where he was taken to the emergency room and declared dead.
