Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked secretaries of central ministries to work out a blueprint for a “developed India” regardless of the country’s preoccupation with politics and urged them to continue with progressive agenda of development.
He said there was a need to “reset” things and systems for India to be a developed economy by 2047.
The message intended to emphasise that the government was confident of returning for a third successive term. PM Modi on Sunday chaired the meeting of his entire Council of Ministers, which discussed the “100-day agenda” of the next government.
Continuing on his words of caution, Modi asked his ministers to avoid controversial statements during the election campaign and win the polls on the success of government schemes. "Speak about the schemes, avoid controversial statements," he said.
Several ministries made presentations on their achievements and plans. A broader presentation on Viksit Bharat was made by the NITI Aayog and the finance ministry. Modi said the Budget would show the glimpse of Viksit Bharat. Other presentations, including Covid management, were also made.
The BJP came out with its first list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on Saturday, announcing 195 candidates across 16 states and two Union Territories. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will contest from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, his parliamentary seat for the last two general elections.
In 2014, the PM detailed an agenda for the first 100 days of his government and asked his ministers to shape the contours of their respective road maps within days of the council of ministers taking the oath of office on May 26.
In 2019, the PM asked key ministers and secretaries to work on the agenda for the government’s second term in the first week of June. The council of ministers took the oath of office on May 30, 2019.
