Udaipur gang-rape case: IT company CEO among three arrested, dashcam recording provides crucial evidence

In her statement, the survivor said that the gang-rape took place after the CEO's birthday celebration at a hotel in Shobagpura on December 20.

Three individuals, including the chief executive of a private IT firm, have been taken into custody following allegations of gang-rape against a woman manager in Rajasthan's Udaipur. The incident occurred on December 20 after a birthday celebration, while arrests were made on December 26.

Udaipur gang-rape case: Who are the accused?

PTI reported that the police have arrested the accused CEO, Jitesh Sisodia, along with the company's woman executive head, and her husband Gaurav Sirohi from Meerut. All three appeared before a magistrate on Thursday and were remanded to four days in police custody.

"The accused were arrested following the registration of a case at Sukher police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They were produced before a court on Thursday and sent on four-day police remand," Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said.

Udaipur gang-rape case: Victim shares details

In her statement, the survivor said that she attended the CEO's birthday celebration at a hotel in Shobagpura on December 20. The gathering began at 9 pm and continued until approximately 1.30 am, with alcohol being served throughout the evening.

She stated that she was left alone as other guests gradually left and the party ended around 1.30AM. After that the accused offered to drive her home in a vehicle one of them owned. While the female colleague, Sisodia, and the survivor sat in the rear seats, Gaurav took the wheel.

During the journey, the accused purchased something resembling cigarettes from a shop and the survivor lost consciousness after consuming the substance. She regained senses the following morning to discover that she had been sexually assaulted.

In the police complaint, the survivor alleged that the three accused took turns to rape her.

Medical evidence and missing items

The medical examination conducted on the survivor confirmed the assault and documented physical trauma. According to the complaint filed with police, the woman sustained injuries and experienced pain in her private parts and other areas of her body. She also reported that some of her jewellery, socks, and undergarments were missing.

Dashcam recording provides key evidence

When the survivor regained consciousness, she noticed injuries on her body and checked the vehicle's dashcam. The recording captured the entire crime and included conversation between the accused individuals.

Armed with this crucial evidence, the woman approached authorities and lodged a formal complaint on December 23.

Police investigation underway

Based on the survivor's statement and medical examination findings, police detained and subsequently arrested the three accused after interrogation. The woman's medical tests were completed, her statements recorded, and the investigation is ongoing.

A comprehensive investigation into the case is currently in progress, police confirmed.
