A manager at a private information technology company has filed a complaint alleging she was gang-raped in a moving vehicle in Udaipur, Rajasthan, after being offered a ride home from a birthday party, PTI quoted local police officials as saying.
As per the PTI report, the incident took place on Saturday after an office party where company staff had gathered to celebrate the CEO's birthday.
As per reports, the party began at 9PM and went on till 1.30AM on Sunday, and the woman told authorities in her statement that she was the last guest remaining at the party when her company's chief executive officer, a female executive head, and the female executive's husband offered to drop her home.
According to the police, the woman was taken into the car by the female executive, with the executive's husband and the CEO also present as the three left to drop her at her residence.
During the journey, the group reportedly stopped at a shop where they purchased items resembling cigarettes, which they then asked the survivor to consume. She told police she lost consciousness after consuming the substance.
She told authorities that upon regaining some consciousness, she realised that the CEO and the other executive's husband were forcing themselves onto her. She was then dropped off at her residence at around 5AM.
The victim stated she realized the following morning that she had been sexually assaulted and subsequently decided to file a complaint with authorities.
As per reports, the audio and video of the incident was captured on the dashcam of the vehicle where the alleged gang-rape took place.
Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal confirmed Wednesday that a case has been registered against three accused individuals based on the woman's complaint. The suspects have been detained and are currently undergoing interrogation, Goyal said.
Further action will be taken following the medical examination report and statements, according to Goyal.
The investigation has been assigned to Additional Superintendent of Police Madhuri Verma.
