Udaipur Police have arrested three people, including the CEO and the executive head of a private company, along with her husband, for allegedly gang-raping a female employee in a moving car. The suspects were taken into police custody early Thursday and later remanded by a local court.
The accused have been identified as company’s CEO Jayesh, co-accused Gaurav and his wife Shilpa.
Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal informed that the incident occurred in the early hours of December 21. The survivor underwent a medical examination, which confirmed injuries consistent with sexual assault.
According to police, the survivor and the suspects had attended a late-night party celebrating the CEO’s birthday, which began at a hotel in Shobhagpura around 9 pm and continued until nearly 1.30 am.
The survivor alleged that the suspects offered to drop her home. During the journey, the CEO, the woman executive head and her husband stopped the car to buy a substance resembling cigarettes from a shop and gave it to the victim, news agency PTI reported.
She allegedly became unconscious after consuming it. She stated that the CEO and the executive head’s husband then took turns assaulting her inside the vehicle.
After regaining control, the survivor reviewed the car’s dashcam footage, which allegedly recorded the entire incident. Feeling violated and fearing for her safety, she filed a police complaint on December 23.
“The medical report has corroborated the victim’s allegations,” the police said, adding that further legal action will follow based on the ongoing investigation.
The investigation has been handed over to Additional Superintendent of Police Madhuri Verma. Police are also examining audio and video recordings from a dashcam installed in the car to further the probe.
