Four dead and many feared trapped after multi-storey building collapsed in Lucknow

Several feared trapped as multi-storey building collapses in Lucknow

At least four died and 28 were rescued after a three-storey building collapsed in Transport Nagar in Lucknow on Saturday evening,

Numerous individuals are believed to be buried beneath the rubble.

The building's fall also crushed a truck that was parked close to the structure.

The incident occurred at around 5 pm. The building was being used as a godown, they said.

Emergency services, including police and rescue teams, are currently on-site working to assess the situation and provide assistance.

"Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to the scene and are working to extricate the trapped individuals," said Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the situation and is monitoring the rescue efforts closely.

"The Chief Minister has instructed the district administration officials, SDRF and NDRF teams to reach the spot and expedite the relief work and immediately take the injured to the hospital for proper treatment. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured," the CMO wrote in a post on X.
