Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday pointed to Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s mass appeal while speaking about values and social influence, during the Sangh’s centenary lecture series in Mumbai.
Referring to the way young people follow trends, Bhagwat remarked, “College students copy Salman Khan’s fashion. When asked why they say they don’t know. Salman is doing it. The context being good values in society should become a fashion.”
The comment came as Salman Khan attended the two-day lecture series titled ‘100 Years of Sangh Journey: New Horizons’, organised as part of the RSS’s 100-year celebrations. The programme began on February 7 and will conclude on February 8, 2026, at the Nehru Centre Auditorium in Mumbai.
Khan was seen listening attentively to Bhagwat’s address, seated alongside filmmaker Subhash Ghai and lyricist, poet and writer Prasoon Joshi. According to those present, the actor appeared deeply engaged as the RSS chief spoke about the organisation’s approach and outlook.
In his address, Bhagwat underlined that the Sangh functions with a focus on the nation and society, without positioning itself in opposition to others. He stressed that the organisation works for national unity and does not act with the objective of acquiring power. His remarks were delivered as part of broader reflections on the RSS’s journey, its role in society and the ideas guiding its future direction.
As Salman Khan arrived at the venue amid tight security arrangements, members of the crowd pulled out their smartphones to capture photographs of the actor. His presence drew visible attention, even as the event remained centred on discussions related to the Sangh’s centenary.
The lecture series brought together senior RSS leaders and invited speakers, with members of the public also participating in the discussions. The sessions are aimed at sharing views and perspectives during the organisation’s centenary year and form part of its wider outreach efforts.
Saturday marked the first day of the event, which seeks to look back at the RSS’s long journey while also outlining new horizons and future challenges. Through speeches and interactions, the programme reflects on the Sangh’s evolving role and its engagement with society at large.
The centenary celebrations, organisers said, are intended to provide a platform for dialogue and reflection, bringing together diverse voices under the theme of the organisation’s 100-year journey.
