Ratan Tata, the visionary chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86 in a Mumbai hospital, leaving behind an indelible legacy that transformed India’s corporate landscape. As news of his death spread, tributes from leaders across industries, politics, and sports flooded in, celebrating his extraordinary impact on the nation and the world.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, expressed profound grief over the passing of Ratan Tata, recognizing his significant contributions to India's economic growth. In a heartfelt tweet, Mahindra reflected on Tata's impact, stating, "I am unable to accept the absence of Ratan Tata."

He highlighted the pivotal role Tata played in positioning India's economy on the brink of a historic leap forward.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid homage to Tata’s monumental legacy, hailing his leadership and compassion. In a heartfelt message, the PM tweeted: “Shri Ratan Tata Ji was a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being. He provided stable leadership to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. At the same time, his contribution went far beyond the boardroom. He endeared himself to several people thanks to his humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making our society better.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has conveyed his profound sadness at the passing of Ratan Tata, describing him as a "legendary industrialist and true nationalist." In a heartfelt statement, Shah highlighted Tata's lifelong dedication to the development of India.


Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said that Ratan Tata's passing away is a big loss, not just to the Tata Group, but to every Indian.

In an emotional statement, Mukesh Ambani said that he lost a dear friend in Ratan Tata. "Each of my numerous interactions with him left me inspired and energised and enhanced my respect for the nobility of his character and the fine human values he embodied," he said.

"With the demise of Mr Ratan Tata, India has lost one of her most illustrious and kind-hearted sons. Mr Tata took India to the world and brought the best of the world to Bharat. He institutionalised the House of Tata and made it an international enterprise growing the Tata group over 70 times since the time he took over as Chairman in 1991," the RIL chairman said.

Former cricketer Virender Sehwag, echoing the sentiments of millions, described Tata as a national treasure. He tweeted: “We have lost a true Ratan of Bharat, Shri Ratan Tata Ji. His life will be an inspiration for us all, and he will continue to live in our hearts. Om Shanti ”

Gautam Adani, Chairman, Adani Group, also joined in expressing his sorrow over the loss of Ratan Tata, highlighting his profound impact on the nation’s development. Adani said: “India has lost a giant, a visionary who redefined modern India's path. Ratan Tata wasn’t just a business leader – he embodied the spirit of India with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the greater good. Legends like him never fade away. Om Shanti ”


N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has expressed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Ratan Tata, emphasising the lasting impact Tata had on the world.

In his statement, Naidu remarked, "Few men have left such an enduring imprint on this world with their vision and integrity as Ratan Tata.

Uday Kotak, Founder and Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank, also shared his tribute on Twitter, stating: "Ratan Tata: the man who made India proud. His legacy will endure through the ages. May his soul rest in peace."



Leader of Opposition, Lok Sabha  and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi acknowledged the significant impact Tata had on both business and philanthropy. Gandhi tweeted, "Ratan Tata was a man with a vision. He has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy."

Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said India and India Inc have lost a "true visionary" and his legacy will inspire future generations.

“Over the decades, generations of my family and I have had close ties with the institution of Tata. Ratan Tata epitomised the finest ideals of the storied Tata Group. Through his career and actions, he unfailingly demonstrated that business, at its best, is both a vehicle for economic strength and a catalyst for societal progress. His decisions have impacted lives and industries far beyond financial metrics. His legacy will inspire future generations of Indians to pursue success with integrity. India and India Inc have lost a true visionary,” Birla said.

Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, chairman of State Bank of India, said Tata's leadership shaped India's industrial and philanthropic landscape and also redefined corporate responsibility and innovation.

His leadership at Tata Sons redefined corporate responsibility and innovation, positioning the Tata Group as a global force while remaining rooted in ethics. His partnership helped drive economic growth and community development. As we mourn his loss, we honor his legacy and the values he championed that significantly contributed to building India."

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn shared his condolences on Twitter, stating: "The world mourns the loss of a visionary. Ratan Tata's legacy will continue to inspire generations. His contributions to India and beyond are immeasurable, and we are deeply grateful for his impact. Rest in peace, Sir. ”


Meanwhile, actor Ritesh Deshmukh expressed his sorrow with a heartfelt tweet in Marathi: "असा माणूस पुन्हा होणे नाही." (A person like him will never be born again.) Deeply saddened to learn that Shri #RatanTata ji is no more. My condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in glory, Sir.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin described Tata as "a true titan of Indian industry and a beacon of humility and compassion."


In a heartfelt tweet, Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah noted, "His contributions to India's progress and philanthropy are immeasurable. His legacy of compassion, humility, and nation-building will continue to inspire generations."

Mallikarjun Kharge, President of the Indian National Congress, also paid tribute to Tata, stating that in his passing, "we have lost an invaluable son of India." He described Tata as "a philanthropist par excellence," whose commitment to India's inclusive growth and development was paramount. Kharge emphasized that Tata embodied "unequivocal integrity and ethical leadership," making him an inspiration and an icon for millions.


Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, took to Twitter to share his heartfelt condolences. In his tribute, Pichai recalled their last meeting at Google, where they discussed the progress of Waymo. He described Tata's vision as "inspiring" and acknowledged the profound impact he had on both business and philanthropy.

India's Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, expressed his sorrow over the passing of Ratan Tata, describing him as a titan of Indian industry. In a heartfelt tweet, Singh highlighted Tata's monumental contributions to the nation's economy, trade, and industry.
