A 17-year-old national level shooter has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by her coach at a hotel in Faridabad last month. According to the complaint, the coach allegedly asked the shooter to meet him at his place of stay, citing a review of her performance in an ongoing tournament.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered in connection with the case, with the police initiating a detailed investigation.

The incident reportedly took place on December 16, 2025, after the athlete competed in a national-level shooting event at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Ranges in south Delhi. According to the FIR, the coach first asked the minor to meet him in the lobby of a hotel in Faridabad’s Surajkund area to review her match performance, CNN-News18 reported.

However, once she reached, the coach reportedly pressured her into coming up to his room on the pretext of a more focused discussion.

It was there that the assault allegedly occurred. The survivor also claimed that the coach threatened to ruin her sports career and harm her family if she reported the incident. Acting on a complaint by the victim’s mother, the Women Police Station in NIT Faridabad registered a case on Tuesday.

The accused has been booked under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as the athlete was a minor at the time, along with Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Senior police officials said multiple teams have been deployed to collect forensic and electronic evidence, including CCTV footage from the hotel, call detail records, and travel verification, according to the CNN-News18 report.

“Looking at the seriousness of the case, we have already asked the hotel administration to share all the CCTV camera footage of the day of the incident immediately to corroborate the allegations of the minor girl,” Yashpal Yadav, public relations officer of Faridabad police, told Hindustan Times.

As of now, the accused has neither been detained nor has been issued a notice.
