Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted with students across the country ahead of the upcoming board examinations during the latest edition of his annual programme ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, offering guidance not only on studies and exams but also on broader life skills and personal development.
The interaction was held at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi, where students from different parts of India were invited to participate. Instead of prominent personalities, the event featured school students who engaged directly with the Prime Minister in an informal and conversational setting that lasted for nearly an hour.
While the primary focus of the programme was examinations, Modi addressed several issues concerning teenagers and young adults, including stress management, the importance of balancing marks with skills, concentration during study time, and effective preparation strategies for pre-board and board exams. He also advised teachers to stay slightly ahead of their students’ pace in teaching, cautioning that moving too far ahead could leave students behind.
A notable theme during the session was the use of technology. Modi encouraged students not to fear Artificial Intelligence but to view it as a tool that can simplify learning and daily work if used wisely. He also spoke about online gaming, advising students to treat games as a skill-building activity but to stay away from betting and gambling, warning that addiction to such practices can be harmful for individuals and families.
The ninth edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ was described as more inclusive, with participation from students of varied backgrounds, including a differently-abled student who shared the stage with the Prime Minister. Cultural symbolism was also visible during the event, with many students wearing traditional gamchas associated with the North-East, which Modi highlighted as a gesture of national unity and cultural respect.
Addressing Class 12 students preparing for competitive examinations, particularly in engineering and medical streams, Modi advised them to prioritise board exams first, stating that strong board preparation would also help in competitive tests. He also referenced his book Exam Warriors, which focuses on helping students deal with exam pressure and self-doubt.
Throughout the interaction, Modi emphasised goal-setting, discipline, and continuous effort, urging students to dream big but also work consistently to turn those dreams into reality. He expressed confidence in the country’s youth, saying that their energy and determination would play a key role in shaping India’s future and achieving long-term national goals.
