A man killed his 4-year-old daughter after she failed to write numbers from 1-50 in her Mathematics homework. The 31-year-old allegedly hit the child with a rolling pin repeatedly and even slammed her on the floor in a fit of rage.

The Faridabad resident, identified as Krishna Jaiswal, reportedly tried to pass off the murder as an accidental death. He claimed that his daughter fell down the stairs which resulted in her death.

The truth came to light only after Jaiswal's six-year-old son informed his mother, who was away for work when the incident occurred, about his sister's assault. The incident was reported from Sector 58 in Faridabad's Ballabgarh on Wednesday.

Jaiswal was arrested on Thursday based on the complaint filed by his wife and the 6-year-old boy's statement.

According to police, the victim Vanshika was slapped multiple times by her father. The suspect lost his temper when the child could not write numbers from 1-50 in her homework book and assaulted her with a rolling pin. He later slammed her on the floor, after which she collapsed.

While Jaiswal worked the night shift at a private firm in Ballabgarh, his wife, Ranjeeta is employed in the day shift with another private firm. Based on their work schedule, Jaiswal used to send their children to school after returning from work at 6am. He used to supervise their homework when they came back in the afternoon.

"The incident took place between 12.10pm and 12.30pm on Wednesday when Jaiswal was monitoring his daughter's homework. She could not write numbers from one to fifty in her homework book, which enraged him," Yashpal Yadav, Faridabad police PRO, told Hindustan Times.

After the child collapsed due to repeated assault, the suspect rushed his daughter to the Ballabgarh civil hospital where succumbed to her injuries. He told doctors that the child slipped from the stairs.

The hospital informed cops about the child's death around 6.30pm but neither parent lodged a complaint. "However, around 1am on Thursday, the grieving mother called the police control room and informed us that it was her husband who murdered their daughter," a police officer told HT requesting anonymity.
