Maharashtra is set to vote in the single-phase Assembly Election on November 20. Stakes are high as political parties – BJP, Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Shiv Sena, NCP and NCP (SP) – battle it out for 288 Assembly seats. Three days after the polling day on November 20, the counting of votes will take place on November 23, the Election Commission of India said in its announcement on October 15 last month. As the state gears up for the mega political showdown between Mahayuti Alliance and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), here are the key dates and big data numbers that you must know:
Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 Seat-Sharing Formula
Ruling BJP is contesting the state polls in an alliance with Shiv Sena and NCP. As part of the Mahayuti Alliance seat-sharing formula, BJP will fight 148 seats, Shiv Sena will contest on 80 and NCP will contest on 53 Assembly constituencies.
Similarly, Congress is contesting the election as part of the MVA or Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. The Congress will be contesting on 101 seats. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) will fight on 94 seats and NCP (SP) on 88 seats.
On as many as 85 seats across Maharashtra, it will be Pawar vs Pawar and Sena vs Sena scenario.
Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 Seat Reservation
Of the total 288 Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra, 29 have been designated for Scheduled Castes, 234 are general seats and 25 Assembly constituencies are marked for the Scheduled Tribes.

As per the data released by the Election Commission of India, Maharashtra has 9.7 crore eligible voters. Of these, 47,392 are centenarians. In the age group of 18-19 years, Maharashtra has 22,22,704 voters. The data further shows that Maharashtra has 47,392 voters that are above the age of 100. The oldest voter is Maharashtra is 107. The state has 9,70,25,119 registered voters. Out of these, 4,69,96,279 are women voters and 5,00,22,739 are men voters. The Election Commission’s data shows that 6,101 voters identify themselves from the third gender community.
