Several exit polls have predicted that the BJP-led Mahayuti has the edge over opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Maharashtra assembly elections. However, according to two exit polls Maharashtra may witness a hung assembly.

Both Lokshahi Marathi Rudra and Bhaskar Reporters Poll have not predicted any clear winner between Mahayuti and MVA in the single-phase elections held today.

Lokshahi Marathi Rudra has predicted that BJP-led NDA will get between 128 and 142 seats while giving MVA 125-140 seats. As per its projection, around 18-23 seats will go to 'Others'.

Bhaskar Reporters Poll has also not given a clear majority to any single alliance. According to the exit poll, of the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra BJP+ is expected to get between 125 to 140 seats while Congress+ will secure between 135-150 seats. It has predicted between 20-25 seats for 'Others'.

ABP-Matrize has predicted 150-170 seats for Mahayuti and 110-130 for MVA. Chanakya Strategies has predicted 152-160 seats for Mahayuti and 130-138 for the MVA. While Poll Diary has predicted 137-157 seats for Mahayuti, the projection for MVA is 126-146. Peoples Pulse has projected 175-195 seats (the highest) for the Mahayuti and 85-112 for the MVA.

Maha Exit Polls

The alliances need to cross the 145-mark to form government in Maharashtra.

Reacting to the exit poll predictions, Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the BJP always benefits whenever there is a rise in voting percentage.

"BJP always gets an advantage whenever there is a rise in voting percentage. Even now, the data is showing that the voting percentage has increased in the state and I am sure that Mahayuti and BJP will get advantage of this," he said.

The Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) are constituents of the MVA along with the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar). The opposition bloc is locked in a close fight with the ruling Mahayuti front in the elections to the 288-member assembly. The results for the 288 seats will be announced on November 23.

In the Mahayuti alliance, the BJP contested the elections in 149 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) in 81 seats, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP fielded candidates in 59 constituencies. In the opposition's MVA combine, the Congress fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95, and NCP (SP) put up 86 candidates.
