Haryana assembly polls will be held in a single phase on October 1, chief election commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced. Counting of votes will take place on October 4.

2024 Assembly polls
The term of the legislative assembly of Haryana will end on November 3. Apart from Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra will also go for polls later this year.
The Election Commission also announced the schedule for Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir which will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1.
The counting of votes, meanwhile, will be done on October 4.
Speaking about the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls while announcing the schedule, Kumar said, "2024 Lok Sabha polls were the biggest election process at the world level. It was completed successfully and peacefully."
"It created a very strongly democratic surface for the entire democratic world, it was peaceful without any violence and the whole country celebrated the festival of elections. We also made many records. For the first time, maximum polling took place in the world," he added.
Recently, the EC visited Haryana to oversee the poll preparedness.
The poll body will announce the schedule of Maharashtra assembly elections later.
