Flying to Colombo for India-Pakistan T20? Mumbai round-trip fares touch Rs 60,000

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed the decision in a post on the government’s official social media handle, citing 'requests from friendly countries' — including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the UAE.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) late on Monday night (February 9, 2026) confirmed that Pakistan will honour its commitment of playing all the matches

Ahead of the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match in Colombo, round-trip flight ticket prices from Mumbai have increased by about Rs 10,000, according to a report by News18.

The Mumbai–Colombo–Mumbai return ticket now costs around Rs 60,000, as excitement builds ahead of the much-anticipated February 15 clash.

The increase in prices comes after the Pakistan government reversed its earlier decision to boycott the high-profile fixture. Following back-channel discussions involving the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Sri Lanka Cricket, and the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan agreed to take the field against India, ending uncertainty over the tournament’s most lucrative match.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed the decision in a post on the government’s official social media handle, citing “requests from friendly countries” — including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the UAE — along with outcomes of multilateral discussions.

“In view of the outcomes achieved in multilateral discussions, as well as the request of friendly countries, the Government of Pakistan hereby directs the Pakistan National Cricket Team to take the field on February 15, 2026, for its scheduled fixture in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” the post said.

The announcement immediately set off a rush for travel and accommodation bookings, as fans scrambled to secure seats for the marquee India-Pakistan clash, widely seen as the highlight of the T20 World Cup.

With its enormous fan following and high-stakes rivalry, the India-Pakistan encounter is expected to draw tens of thousands of spectators to Sri Lanka, pushing up prices and fuelling a frenzy among cricket enthusiasts.
