Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday briefly paused his speech to enquire about the health of a BJP worker after he spotted him looking unwell during an event organised to mark the party's victory in Delhi assembly polls. "Look at him, is he sleepy or unwell? Please get a doctor for him," he said.

"Give him some water. Probably he is not well. Take care of him. He is looking a bit uneasy," PM Modi said from the dais, pointing at a party worker in the audience who had gathered at the BJP headquarters in the national capital for the victory celebrations.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which was routed in the Delhi Assembly elections saw the erosion of nearly 10 percentage points in its vote share while the winner BJP not only saw a resurgence but also a significant increase in its vote share.

Kejriwal-led AAP secured a vote share of 43.57 per cent, down from 53.57 per cent in the 2020 polls. In 2020 and 2015, the party won a massive mandate by securing 67 and 62 seats respectively. However, this time it was restricted to only 22 seats.

The BJP, which is returning to power, secured a vote share of 45.56 per cent and won 48 seats. The saffron party's vote share rose from 38.51 per cent in 2020 and 32.3 per cent in the 2015 elections. The Congress did not win any seat and secured a vote share of 6.34 per cent.

On Congress drawing blank in Delhi, PM Modi said that today the people of the national capital have given a message to the grand old party. "Congress has hit a double hattrick of 'zero' in Delhi elections. The oldest party in the country is not able to get even one seat in the national capital for the last 6 times. They are giving the gold medal of defeat to themselves. The party not only loses but also brings down its allies," he said.

PM Modi said that the Delhi election result must have come as a huge relief to activist Anna Hazare. "I was listening to what Anna Hazare said today about AAP's loss. Anna Hazare ji has been bearing the pain of the misdeeds of these people for a long time. Today he too must have got relief from that pain. The party born out of the movement against corruption got involved in corruption. Even he would have felt relief today that Delhi has done the right thing by voting BJP to power in the national capital," he said.

Once a mentor to Arvind Kejriwal, Hazare said the AAP "drowned" due to the liquor policy and its focus on money. "With the liquor policy issue came the money and they drowned in it. The (AAP's) image was tarnished. People saw him (Arvind Kejriwal) talking about clean character and then about liquor," Hazare told reporters in Maharashtra's Ralegan Siddhi village.

The Prime Minister said that wherever NDA has received the mandate, we have taken the state to new heights of development. "People are electing our governments for the second and third time because we work for development ... In the Northeast, our governments have connected the people with a new stream of development. There was a time when there was a huge water crisis in Gujarat, farming was difficult, but today the same Gujarat has emerged as an agriculture powerhouse. Similarly, Chandrababu Naidu has proved his track record in Andhra Pradesh. All these examples show that NDA means guarantee of development, NDA means guarantee of good governance," he said.

Terming the BJP's win in the Delhi Assembly polls as 'historic', Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying people of the national capital reposed faith in him. Addressing a press conference, he slammed the outgoing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, saying Delhi has become a city of garbage and totally polluted.

"After 27 years, people elected the BJP government in Delhi. This is a historic victory because today the victory is not only for the BJP or Delhi people, but for the self-respect of the entire country. Narendra Modi is creating a sustainable model for the country. Today's win in Delhi reflects the confidence of people in Modi," he said.

After BJP's historic comeback in Delhi, party MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat said the public will not support the AAP again. "The public of Delhi saw two governments in the past 10 years. One working at the Centre from 2014, under the leadership of PM Modi which made India the fifth-largest economy of the world. On the other hand, there was a government which always spread lies in Delhi ... Arvind Kejriwal did not allow the public of Delhi get the benefits of the central government welfare schemes ... BJP's Parvesh Verma, who defeated former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency, said the party's leadership will decide the next chief minister of Delhi. The son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma also thanked people and called it "the victory of the people of the national capital".

"This is not just my victory, this is the victory of the people of Delhi, who chose truth over lies, governance over gimmicks, and development over deception. I humbly thank every voter who placed their trust in me. We will work tirelessly to bring a real change in Delhi. This mandate is a clear message that people want honest, transparent, and development-driven politics," he said.

BJP leader Manoj Tiwari said that in the Delhi elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guarantee and faith won while Arvind Kejriwal's arrogance lost. "Bahaane nahi, badlaav chahiye," he said as BJP is set to sweep the AAP out of power in Delhi.

"... We are proud of our state president Virendraa Sachdeva and we thank every worker of the party. The public has bestowed their trust on PM Modi's guarantees ... Arvind Kejriwal will never return to power," Tiwari added.

BJP leader Parvesh Verma, who defeated former CM Arvind Kejriwal in the high-profile New Delhi constituency, said people of Delhi have shown faith in the saffron party. "There has been no development in Delhi for 11 years now. I have just done my job, what party asked me to do. There was incumbency factor. No work was done by Kejriwal. He was not approachable. People have trusted BJP and our promises," he said.

After more than 26 years, the BJP is closing in on a historic win in Delhi. As per Election Commission (EC) figures, the party has claimed 21 seats and leads in 21, while AAP is behind with 13 wins and 9 leads. This win is a major leap from the last Assembly polls, when the BJP managed only 8 seats.

BJP made significant gains in key Muslim-dominated constituencies. In Mustafabad, Mohan Singh Bisht triumphed over AAP’s Adeel Ahmad Khan by 17,578 votes. In Rithala, Kulwant Rana secured a 29,616-vote victory over Mohinder Goyal of AAP. Over in Shahdara, Sanjay Goyal currently holds a 5,178-vote lead against Jitender Singh Shunty.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on February 8 congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of Delhi for uprooting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). "People have faith in PM Narendra Modi because whatever he says, he fulfils. People of Delhi trusted that their development would be ensured by the double-engine government, so they have voted for BJP in huge numbers. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made a historic comeback in Delhi after 27 long years by sweeping away Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).  The magnitude of AAP's rout in Delhi was accentuated by the stunning defeats of its two top leaders—former CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. With the BJP poised to form government in Delhi after more than 26 years, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday said that people of the national capital "voted for change" as they were "fed up with the way things were".

The Congress failed to register a single lead in any of the 70 assembly seats in the national capital.

Priyanka, also the MP from Wayanad, told reporters that it was obvious during the party’s meetings ahead of the Delhi polls that people wanted change. "They were fed up with the way things were and they wanted change. I suppose they voted for change. My congratulations to all those who have won," she said.

BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah expressed delight on his win from the Jangpura assembly constituency and thanked the party leadership. "I thank PM Narendra Modi, Virendraa Sachdeva and JP Nadda for considering me worthy enough to contest the election against Manish Sisodia. The AAP leader admitted to me that he needed Atishi and Arvind Kejriwal to campaign for him because he considered me a strong opponent," Marwah said.

BJP leader Smriti Irani on February took a dig at AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and said that he not only failed to deliver on his promises but also tried to resist PM Modi's developmental work in Delhi.

"Kejriwal had promised that he joined politics to bring a change in Indian politics but he failed to deliver. He became an accused in liquor scam and also resisted BJP's and PM Modi's developmental work ... I congratulate the people of Delhi as they have shown faith in PM Modi's leadership and good governance," she said.
