India’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday shared an update on the country’s energy preparedness amid growing global uncertainty, reiterating that the government is closely monitoring developments in international oil markets.
In a post on social media platform X, Puri outlined the government’s position and ongoing efforts to ensure stable energy supplies.
"In my regular interaction with members of the fourth estate today, we discussed various aspects of India’s uninterrupted energy imports despite geopolitical challenges," Puri said in an X post.
"Our priority is to ensure the availability of affordable and sustainable fuel for our citizens, and we are doing it comfortably. There is no shortage of energy in India and there is no cause of worry for our energy consumers," the post added.
The remarks come at a time when global energy markets remain on edge due to escalating geopolitical tensions and concerns over potential disruptions to oil supply routes.
India imports a significant portion of its crude oil requirements, making developments in global markets particularly important for domestic fuel pricing and energy security.
Government officials have previously said that authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation and are prepared to take necessary steps to safeguard supplies if disruptions occur.
Puri’s statement adds to the government’s ongoing communication on the matter as policymakers track international developments that could affect energy flows and prices.
