Popular Physics professor and the writer of highly successful high school books “Concepts of Physics,” HC Verma has debunked a claim being made on Twitter that he had donated Rs 1 crore to the PM's Relief Fund.

Writing on his Facebook page, the acclaimed physicist said he wished he could do something like this but he was just a common man.

“Dear Friends, I came to know about a twitter post telling that I earn 1 crore of royalty and donate the whole money to PM relief fund. I wish I could do that,” Verma said.

“I wish to categorically deny the information. A scooter photo is also shown in the post. I never had a scooter of this colour and make. I am just one of you, a common man and a physics learner.”

A Twitter handle going by the name of Real Heroes had made the claim. The Tweet was widely received on the micro-blogging platform and retweeted by about four thousand people. The post had over six thousand ‘likes’.

As soon as HC Verma posted the dismissal on Facebook, his followers also chipped in with their witty comments. One Diwakar Sharma wrote, “How could someone believe that Sir will waste petrol on a 2-stroke low efficiency highly polluting old scooter...”

To this, Verma replied he rides a battery-driven yo-yo scooty.

HC Verma also said that a Hindi version of the first part of his famous books is set to be launched in a few months. “I am working on Part-1 Hindi and it should come into the market in few months,” he said.

Though, he added that Part-2 is not “in sight” and students may have to wait for it.
