
Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival, Israel’s parliament, Knesset, was illuminated in the colours of the Indian flag. Knesset speaker Amir Ohana shared a picture of the parliament building on his X handle, saying it was a tribute to the Indian Prime Minister.
“In tribute to Prime Minister @narendramodi, the Knesset is illuminated tonight in the colors of the Indian flag,” he wrote, sharing an image alongside.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday began his two-day visit to Israel, during which he will have discussions with his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, address the Israeli Parliament and interact with the Indian diaspora.
Reacting to Ohana’s post, Modi said, “Honoured by the gesture. Looking forward to addressing the Knesset later today.”

In his departure statement, the Prime Minister said India and Israel share a robust and multifaceted strategic partnership that has witnessed remarkable growth and dynamism, and he is looking forward to his meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu.
“I look forward to my discussions with Prime Minister Netanyahu aimed at further strengthening our cooperation across various domains, including science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, technology, defence and security, trade and investment, as well as people-to-people ties. We will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” he said.
Modi will address the Israeli Parliament, Knesset, becoming the first Indian prime minister to have the honour.
During the visit, Modi will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
“I also eagerly look forward to interacting with the members of the Indian diaspora who have for long been nurturing the India-Israel special friendship. I am confident that my state visit will further consolidate the enduring bonds between the two countries, set new goals for the strategic partnership, and advance our shared vision for a resilient, innovative and prosperous future,” Modi said.
This will be the second visit of Prime Minister to Israel in nine years.
