AR Murugadoss reveals he pitched Dil Madharaasi to Shah Rukh Khan before Sivakarthikeyan

In a surprising little reveal, director AR Murugadoss has said that his much-talked-about film Dil Madharaasi, now starring Sivakarthikeyan, was once pitched to none other than Shah Rukh Khan for the Hindi version.

Speaking in an interview, the filmmaker explained, "I didn’t plan the whole film (Madharasi) with Shah Rukh Khan, but I did pitch the character to him long back. I told him 7-8 years ago, and even he liked it.”He added that at the time, he only had the idea of a character, not the complete script.

"Back then, I only had the character…just an idea, not the full script. After watching the movie (Madharasi), you’ll realize what I meant by ‘character’."

Murugadoss recalled how the meeting with SRK happened. “At that time, cinematographer Ravi K Chandran arranged a meeting for me with SRK. He was so sweet and said ‘we’ll do the film’, but the delay was very long, which is why it never materialized,” the director admitted.

Fast forward to 2025, and the project has found its footing with Sivakarthikeyan in the lead. The actor, fresh off Amaran’s success, will be teaming up with Murugadoss for the first time. The announcement itself has already set social media buzzing.

Backed by Sri Lakshmi Movies, Dil Madharaasi promises a full-blown action spectacle. The film also features Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Shabeer, and Vikranth. Music is by Anirudh Ravichander, who has been on a dream run with back-to-back blockbusters like Jailer, Vikram, and Jawan. Cinematography is handled by Sudeep Elamon, while Sreekar Prasad takes care of editing.

The title glimpse has already hinted at Sivakarthikeyan’s intense new avatar, and with Murugadoss at the helm, expectations are sky-high. The director, known for blockbusters like Ghajini and Holiday, is returning to his action roots with this one.

Dil Madharaasi is slated to hit theatres on September 5, 2025.
