FIIs net sell Rs 1614 cr in index futures on Tues

Nifty Futures added 11.4 lakh shares in OI and ended at 2 points discount as against premium of 22 points. Nifty Open Interest PCR was down at 1.30 versus 1.34.

FIIs were net sellers of Rs 1614 crore in Index Futures, which open interest (OI) was up by 43793 contracts. However, FIIs were net buyers of Rs 1358 crore in Index Options, which OI was up by 42177 contracts.

Nifty Futures added 11.4 lakh shares in OI and ended at 2 points discount as against premium of 22 points. Nifty Open Interest PCR was down at 1.30 versus 1.34.

Nifty 5400 Put shed 12.2 lakh (11%) shares in Open Interest while Nifty 5500 Call added 3.3 lakh (5%) shares in Open Interest. Nifty April 5400 Put added 2.6 lakh (26%) shares in Open Interest.

Short covering & cash based buying were seen in Reliance Industries. The stock gained 1.3%; its OI was down by 4% and delivery volume jumped at 66 lakh equity shares as against 44 lakh shares.

Sterlite Industries, Wipro, Reliance Power and REC witnessed fresh shorts & cash based selling on Tuesday. Sterlite tanked 3.5%; its OI was up by 6.3% and delivery volume went up at 28.6 lakh shares (61%) versus 8.7 lakh (42%).

Wipro fell 3.3%; its OI was up by 6% and delivery volume declined at 5 lakh shares versus 8.3 lakh. Reliance Power lost 4.4%; its OI was up by 4% and delivery volume jumped at 11.2 lakh shares versus 7.2 lakh.

REC tumbled 4%; its OI was up by 4% and delivery volume increased at 20.5 lakh shares versus 12.6 lakh shares.
