Peyush Bansal, CEO and co-founder of Lenskart, feels the company and he are at a very early stage right now and their journeys do not merit a biography yet.
His comments come at a time when Eternal’s founder and group CEO Deepinder Goyal shared a book, titled “Unseen”, on his social media. The book captures Zomato’s story so far and how Goyal scaled the company into a multi-billion dollar business.
Asked if Bansal would release a similar book on Lenskart and him, Bansal said: “not anytime soon.”
“Zomato is definitely in a different space and a league of its own right now. We are not there and we are a far mile from the mission that we set out for and we are very discontent right now,” Bansal told Moneycontrol in an interview.
While he has not decided if he will publish a book, and a name for it yet, Bansal said when he begins to work on the idea, he would title it “Vision for Billion”.
“If we could change the life of a billion people, half of them underprivileged, half of them privileged, I think we would have created some meaning,” Bansal said.
Lenskart estimates that around 500-700 million people in India needs glasses so the opportunity to serve people is enormous.
However, “It doesn’t matter what the TAM is. My co-founder says: ‘Ki farak painda hai? (What difference does it make?)’ It doesn't matter what the TAM is beyond a point. You go to any place and you do an eye test of 10 children, 10 adults and you can know what the TAM is. You don't need so many monitors and reports to do that. I don't get into this beyond a point, I don’t track it, this is an analyst’s job,” Bansal concluded.
