Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea said they have stepped up network infrastructure and upgraded existing sites across major areas of Ayodhya ahead of the consecration of the Ram Mandir on January 22. The telecom service providers have deployed additional workforce, including network engineers, to ensure uninterrupted service to meet the surge.

Airtel said that it has enhanced its network infrastructure to cover all important locations, including airports, railway stations, bus stands, key landmark areas, hotels, and all important venues in the city.

The Sunil Mittal-led telco deployed additional network sites, placed CoWs (cell on wheels) and laid optic fibre cable to cover the entire city with uninterrupted voice and data services.

Airtel has additionally deployed CoWs in Ayodhya Dham, Ayodhya Cantonment, Airport, Katra railway station, bus stand, Ramprasth Park, Ram Bhadra, Brahmakund, Guptar Ghat, Parikrama Marg, and Highway.

“A few additional sites and BTS have also been installed to cover the Mandir and its adjoining areas. Airtel’s network engineers have worked round the clock to cover the main site, locker room and Rajawar park site with high-speed data connectivity,” Airtel said in a statement.

The telco said that it has also deployed fibre to cover areas that need high-speed data, thereby ensuring an elevated user experience for visitors.

Vodafone Idea said it has improved its network coverage, increased capacity and enhanced backhaul connectivity by augmenting its network across all spectrum bands in the city of Ayodhya.

Covering all the major points across the city, Vi has added new sites and upgraded or refarmed L2100 spectrum capacity across the nooks and corners of the city, including the railway station, Ram Mandir campus, airport, and the connecting highways to Lucknow and Varanasi, the telco said.

“DoT and other departments ensured speedy approvals in providing space for towers and movement of material and manpower, thus enabling immediate execution,” Vodafone Idea said in a statement.

The company has collaborated closely with the local authorities to ensure seamless integration of network enhancements with the overall event infrastructure.

The pran pratishtha ceremony will be attended by nearly 7,000 invitees, including politicians, industrialists, celebrities and sports personalities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Ayodhya soon to kick off the Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony.

Authority anticipates three to five lakh visitors daily, resulting in huge network traffic movement in a short time.
