As the month of November draws to close, so does the deadline for common citizens to finish several important tasks to avoid penalty. Missing these could lead to fines, service disruptions, or delayed benefits. Whether it’s submitting the annual life certificate or completing the NPS-to-UPS transfer, November 30 is a critical deadline for several mandatory requirements.
Here's a list of essential tasks that need to be finish before November 30, 2025.
1. UPS deadlineThe Finance Ministry had extended the deadline for central government employees to opt into the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) till November 30, 2025.
The cut-off was pushed by two months from the earlier deadline of September 30 by Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), the Department of Financial Services in an official communication.
Under the UPS, employees contribute 10% of their basic pay and dearness allowance, while the government contributes 18.5%. This differs from the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), where employees received 50% of their last basic salary as pension without any employee contribution.
2. Pensioners to submit DLC on or before Nov 30Pensioners across the country are required to submit a proof of them being alive once a year, in order to keep receiving the pension. This year, simplifying the process, the govt urged pensioners to submit their annual Digital Life Certificate (DLC), or Jeevan Pramaan, between November 1 and November 30.
However, senior citizens aged 80 years and above were permitted to submit their certificates earlier, starting October 1, 2025.
To ease the process, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) launched a Doorstep Digital Life Certificate service in 2020, using Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication. Pensioners can also obtain a DLC from Jeevan Pramaan centres operated by CSCs, banks, government offices, or generate it themselves using the Jeevan Pramaan application on a PC, mobile phone, or tablet.
The third key task to be taken care before November 30, 2025, is finishing several high-priority tax-related filings.
