    DSP BlackRock MF drops banks, auto; picks IT, telecom

    Tata Motors (DVR), Mahindra Satyam and Power Finance Corporation were the top sells, while IDFC, Sesa Sterlite and Bharti Airtel were the top buys by DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund.

    DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund has decreased its investments from banking & financial services, automotive and engineering & capital goods space, while enhanced its exposure in information technology, telecommunication and food & beverages.

    Tata Motors (DVR), Mahindra Satyam and Power Finance Corporation were the top sells, while IDFC, Sesa Sterlite and Bharti Airtel were the top buys.

    A study of the DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund portfolio for the period of June-September 2013 showed that in the banking & financial services, the fund sold HDFC, HDFC Bank and Bajaj Finance. It also exited from Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services, LIC Housing Finance, Cholamandalam Investment, Bajaj Finserv, Punjab National Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce. However, it bought IDFC, ICICI Bank, Bank Of Baroda and also introduced Axis Bank and Canara Bank in the same space.

    In the automotive segment, it sold Tata Motors (DVR), Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motors and exited Tata Motors. While it bought Motherson Sumi Systems, Bajaj Auto and introduced Hero Motocorp and Amara Raja Batteries. (View - All Bulk Deals by Mutual Funds).

    The fund sold Larsen and Toubro, Havells India and Sadbhav Engineering in the engineering & capital goods space. It also exited from Jaypee Infratech, Titagarh Wagons and Thermax. However it purchased Siemens, Crompton Greaves, Reliance Industrial Infrastructure and introduced BEML.

    In the information technology space, the fund bought Wipro, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and introduced HCL Infosystems. While it sold Hexaware Technologies, Polaris Financial Technology and exited from Mahindra Satyam and eClerx Services.

    The fund purchased Bharti Airtel, Tata Communications and Idea Cellular in the telecommunication space. (Check out - Which sectors are attracting Fund Managers?)

    In the food & beverages pack, the fund bought United Spirits, Nestle India and Britannia Industries. But it sold Tata Global Beverage, Tata Coffee and Mount Everest Mineral Water from the same pack.
