Equity diversified NAVs decline sharply with advance:decline ratio of 0:254 as the Equity benchmarks saw a free-fall on Monday and kicked off the second week of 2011 on a bearish note, dragged down by sectors like capital goods, oil & gas, financial, metal and realty.

Equity diversified NAVs decline sharply with advance:decline ratio of 0:254 as the Equity benchmarks saw a free-fall on Monday and kicked off the second week of 2011 on a bearish note, dragged down by sectors like capital goods, oil & gas, financial, metal and realty. The Nifty extended losses for fifth consecutive session and touched one-month low during the day; shed 395 points while the Sensex dropped 1340 points in five days.


 


The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 19,224.12, down 467.69 points or 2.38% and the 50-share NSE Nifty plunged 141.75 points or 2.40% to settle at 5,762.85. The broader indices followed the same trend; the BSE Midcap Index was down 2.34% and Smallcap down 2.83%.


 


All sector fund decline, However long and short term debt funds ended with positive returns; their advance:decline ratio stood at 59:24 & 100:10, respectively.
