Nithin Kamath CEO apologised for recent technical issues in the Zerodha platform. Kamath said the recent tech issues on November 6 and December 4 affected between 5 to 20 percent of the active users.
“The issues on Nov 6th and Dec 4th were triggered due to edge cases with our external dependencies. This is no excuse, and I understand that, as a platform, we are responsible for all the issues you face.” Kamath said in post on Zerodha.
He pointed out that the broker has multiple external dependencies including exchanges and depositories, execution management system (EMS) vendor.
On December 4, Zerodha Kite users were unable to login to the platform. Zerodha said its system received a high number of password requests which caused login issues. Its email alert system also “ alerts numerous users about logins from new locations/IPs. This was due to a recent update to our IP database over the weekend, which resulted in changes to the recorded locations of many users, thus triggering these alerts.” Zerodha said in their bulletin.
Users faced another tech issue on November 6 where they were unable to view their executed orders in their order book on Kite and unable to view their holdings and fund page. Kamath said the issue was caused by “an unscheduled update in the anti-malware monitoring service from our EMS vendor, which started throttling our servers”.
