FIIs, DIIs net sell Rs 723 cr in equities on Jan 6 (prov)

Market cues

Selling pressure continued for fourth consecutive day as banks & auto stocks worst hit. Realty Index was down 3%.

BSE Capital Goods Index was down 2% and Auto Index down 1.5%. Cement stocks traded lower on negative Fitch report. Ambuja Cements ended down 5.4% and ACC was down 4.17%.

Fertiliser stocks saw unwinding pressure as GoM deferred urea decontrol. Higher inflation spooked markets in later half.

Experts see Nifty support at around 5950 levels.

Institutional action

FIIs were net sellers of Rs 385 crore and DIIs net sellers of Rs 338 crore in the cash market on January 06, as per provisional data available on NSE. FIIs were net buyers of Rs 165 crore in the F&O market.

FIIs in F&O

FIIs were net buyers of Rs 131 crore in Index Futures and net buyers of Rs 491 crore in Index Options. However, FIIs were net sellers of Rs 434 crore in Stock Futures.

F&O Cues

NSE F&O Open Interest was up by Rs 5,379 crore at Rs 1.23 lakh crore.

Total Nifty Futures' open interest (OI) was up by Rs 166 crore while total Nifty Options up by Rs 5213 crore. Stock Futures added 2 crore shares in Open Interest.

Nifty Futures added 2 lakh shares in open interest and ended at 24 points premium. Nifty Open Interest PCR went down at 1.25 versus 1.31. Nifty Puts added 28.4 lakh shares in Open Interest while Nifty Calls added 46.5 lakh shares in OI.

Nifty 6100 Call added 19.3 lakh shares in Open Interest and Nifty 6200 Call added 10.8 lakh shares in Open Interest.

Nifty February 5600 Put added 5.2 lakh shares in Open Interest and Nifty 5900 Put added 5 lakh shares in Open Interest.

Nifty February 6400 Call add 4.3 lakh shares in Open Interest. Nifty 6000 Call added 4 lakh shares in Open Interest.
