InterGlobe Aviation's Group Managing Director Rahul Bhatia along with its Chief Executive Officer Aditya Pande on May 16 visited Archer Aviation's headquarters to take stock of the progress of the air taxi project.
InterGlobe Enterprises, which owns India's largest airline IndiGo, and Archer Aviation in November 2023 announced that they have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the goal of partnering to launch and operate an all-electric air taxi service in India.
They plan to launch this taxi service in India by 2026.
"We are excited to work with Archer to launch eVTOL air taxis in India, enhancing urban mobility with futuristic and sustainable transport solutions," InterGlobe Enterprises wrote on X.
The low-noise electric air taxi service is a safe, sustainable, and cost competitive solution with ground transportation.
Archer Aviation will be having a joint venture with InterGlobe Enterprises and the final contours are being worked out. The US company is also in discussions with various municipalities with respect to infrastructure and other aspects of the flight operations.

“With the goal of bringing Archer midnight aircraft to Indian cities, Archer Aviation with InterGlobe will start transforming fundamental mobility across city with Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru”, said Goel in an interview with PTI earlier.
