Infosys to provide IT services to Ikea in $100 million deal: Report

Infosys will provide enterprise service management based on ServiceNow, IT services management, and a service desk for 170,000 workers and 260,000 devices in 19 languages during the course of the five-year deal, the report said.

A total of 350 Ikea positions will be affected in China, France, Germany, India, Poland, Sweden, and the US. These workers will transfer to Infosys.

Swedish furniture retailer Ikea awarded Infosys a deal for over $100 million (about Rs 850 crore), surpassing the bids of incumbents HCL, Capgemini, and DXC as well as smaller regional businesses. reported The Times of India.

Infosys will provide enterprise service management based on ServiceNow, IT services management, and a service desk for 170,000 workers and 260,000 devices in 19 languages during the course of the five-year deal, the report said.

In China, France, Germany, India, Poland, Sweden, and the US, around 350 positions at Ikea will be affected; these workers will transfer to Infosys, it added.

An email from Infosys to a limited group of workers stated, "It has been a three-year long but fulfilling journey that started with cold calling and some initial connections and culminated in a strategic partnership."

Karmesh Vaswani, EVP and global head of consumer, retail, and logistics at Infosys, oversaw the closing of the the deal. "We are also taking the partnership approach, taking the next level of sharing risks and rewards and delivering a transformation roadmap with 36 transformation projects committed to be delivered as part of this partnership," the e-mail stated.

Parag Parekh, chief digital officer at Ingka Group, said, "After careful consideration and evaluation of our current operations, Ingka Group has identified opportunities to improve the delivery of digital tools and services to co-workers with speed, scale, and flexibility. By partnering with Infosys, we will enhance our core business functions and further streamline operations."

Infosys is expanding into the Nordic region. Danske Bank awarded Infosys a $454 million deal last year. The agreement will be implemented over a period of five years, with the possibility to extend it for a further year up to three times. Infosys will also purchase Danske Bank's 1,400-person IT facility in India as part of this deal, according to the report.
