The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday, December 28, said it carried out search operations at ten locations across Delhi and Haryana’s Gurugram and Rohtak in connection with a money laundering case linked to Rao Inderjeet Yadav, a wanted criminal who is believed to have fled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The agency said the raids led to the seizure of five luxury cars, cash amounting to ₹17 lakh, bank lockers, incriminating documents, digital devices and electronic data related to Yadav and his associates.
The ED has initiated a probe against Yadav, who is accused of murdering a businessman in Rohtak last year. Media reports suggest he left India for the UAE following the killing.
Apart from the murder case, Yadav is facing allegations of extortion, armed intimidation, coercive settlement of private loans and earning commissions from such illegal activities. The Uttar Pradesh and Haryana police have earlier filed charge sheets against him and his associates in multiple cases.
According to investigators, Yadav is known for his lavish lifestyle. He owns a music company, Gem Records Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which operates under the name ‘Gems Tunes’. Founded in 2006, ‘Gems Tunes’ functions as a video-on-demand OTT platform producing and distributing regional music content.
Yadav also has a significant presence on social media, with around 1.2 million followers on Instagram, where he frequently posts images showcasing an opulent lifestyle and photographs with celebrities.
The ED alleged that Yadav “acted as a strongman and enforcer", facilitating coercive settlement of high-value private loan transactions and financial disputes involving hundreds of crores.
“The income so generated by Yadav from these fraudulent ways, running into crores, was allegedly used for the acquisition of immovable properties, luxury cars, and maintaining a luxurious life while declaring minimum income tax returns," the agency said, as quoted by NDTV.
During the searches, the ED also found that Yadav had set up a website portal to facilitate loan settlements between corporate entities and private financiers.
Manjet Dighal, a financier, was murdered in Rohtak, Haryana, in December 2024. While a criminal gang identified as Himanshu Bhau claimed responsibility for the killing, Yadav’s name also surfaced during the investigation.
Yadav’s name had earlier appeared in connection with another high-profile incident on August 18, when unidentified assailants opened fire at YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav. The Himanshu Bhau gang had again claimed responsibility for the attack, with references to Rao Inderjeet Yadav appearing in related social media posts.
