India's DAP production at 2.90 lakh tonne in June 2011

The production of Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) in the country in June 2011 stood at 2.90 lakh tonne, 24% less than the target due to maintenance jobs at some plants. The target for June 2011 was 3.82 lakh tonne.
"The estimated production of DAP during June 2011 was 2.90 lakh tonne as against the target of 3.82 lakh tonne. DAP production has been less than the target by 0.92 lakh tonne due to maintenance jobs by some plants," a fertiliser ministry official said.However, the production of urea in June has been higher by almost two per cent at 18.10 lakh tonne as against the target of 17.77 lakh tonne, the official added.During June 2011, 24.74 lakh tonne of urea (indigenous and imported) was despatched to the states. The availability of the crop nutrient in June stood at 30.63 lakh tonne.According to the ministry official, sale of urea rose by almost 26% to 58.98 lakh tonne between April 1 and June 30, 2011 as against 46.90 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period.The availability of urea was satisfactory in all the states, the official said.The availability of DAP in June stood at around 8.78 lakh tonne, while that of Muriate of Potash (MOP) stood at 2.83 lakh during the same period.The country imported 3.74 lakh tonnes of urea in June, which included 2.54 lakh tonne imported from OMIFCO, Oman and 1.20 lakh tonne from other sources.India also imported 8.40 lakh tonne of DAP, 2.28 lakh tonne of NPK and 0.40 lakh tonne of MOP in the same period.
