The second trailer of Avengers: Doomsday is here and provides a glimpse at Chris Hemsworth's Thor, creating a buzz among the fans.
The new teaser was released after the first teaser showed Chris Evans' Captain America, which was released with the Avatar: Fire and Ash screening previews. The teaser revealed that Captain America will return in "Doomsday" and that he unexpectedly has a child.
The new teaser focuses on Thor answering the call to combat once more while hoping for the safety of his adopted daughter, Love, who was first shown in Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022.
Like the picturesque farmhouse of the Captain America teaser, the teaser opens in a serene, bright forest. As he presumably gets ready to join the Avengers to face Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in Doomsday, Thor asks his late father, the Norse deity Odin, for the power to protect his new daughter. A small sight of Love, who has somewhat matured from Love and Thunder, is shown in the teaser. As she lies in bed and his sombre narrative plays, Thor, dressed casually, gives her a kiss on the forehead.
In reality, the antagonist Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) is the father of Love, who is portrayed by Hemsworth's real-life daughter India. After his prayers to save his late daughter were unanswered, Gorr in Love and Thunder seeks retribution against all the gods. But in the end, Gorr gives up his desire for vengeance and succeeds in bringing Love back to life before he passes away.
In his last moments, Gorr asks Thor to raise Love as if she were his own daughter. Love then uses his Stormbreaker hammer to accompany Thor on his subsequent travels.
Earlier this year, Hemsworth and numerous other Marvel celebrities were revealed to be starring in Avengers: Doomsday. With assistance from Evans, Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, and Simu Liu, he will battle Doctor Doom.
In addition to the Avengers, Doomsday will feature the cast of Thunderbolts, including Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, and Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
The ultimate team-up film, which is set in Fox's X-Men universe, will also star Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, and Rebecca Romijn.
Avengers: Doomsday will release in the theatres on December 18, 2026.
