April auto sales data: These automakers sold the highest number of cars in India

    Several automakers released their sales data for the month of April 2025. Maruti Suzuki continued to hold the lion's share in the market, selling nearly 1.8 lakh units (including exports) during the month.

    Here's a list of major automakers who reported the highest domestic sales:

    Maruti Suzuki:

    Maruti Suzuki sold 1.52 lakh units in April 2025, marking a rise of nearly 4 percent from the 1.46 lakh units sold in April 2024. Its passenger vehicle segment (PV), which includes popular car models Alto, Baleno, Dzire, Ciaz, Grand Vitara and more, saw a 0.5 percent YoY rise to 1.39 lakh units during the month. Sales of its light commercial vehicle Super Carry saw a strong surge of 34 percent YoY to 3,349 units.

    Mahindra & Mahindra:

    Mahindra & Mahindra didn’t specify its total domestic sales for the month of April this year. However, its overall auto sales stood at 84,170 vehicles, while exports were reported at 3,381 units. This would take the total domestic exports (Total sales minus exports) to 80,789 units.

    The company's passenger vehicle segment saw a 28 percent YoY jump in sales to 52,330 units in April 2025.

    Tata Motors:

    The total domestic sales of Tata Motors fell 7 percent YoY to 70,963 units in April 2025 from 76,399 units in April 2024. Its total domestic sale of passenger vehicles dropped 6 percent YoY to 45,199 units during the month under review. Domestic commercial vehicle sales meanwhile fell 10 percent YoY to 25,764 units.

    Hyundai:

    Hyundai India reported domestic sales at 44,374 units. Its exports meanwhile stood at 16,400 units during April 2025, marking a YoY rise of 21 percent.
